Offering a large network of caregivers, and assisted living home providers are trained and certified in care management in New York State. Our Family Care and Support Network
extends to employees, service providers, living facilities, and independent contractors are all here to serve each person with dignity and respect 24 hours a day.

Are you or a loved one having more and more difficulty with everyday activities such as showering, dressing, getting around the house, or running errands? An assisted living facility may be right for you. You can get the daily support you need, while remaining as independent as possible. When it is time to start looking for an assisted living facility is when there is a deterioration of the health of a person, a fall, recent hospitalization, memory loss, severe lonliness, depression, forgetting to take medications, and many other factors that are all indicators that someone is need of help.

Making the decision to leave your home for an assisted living facility can be difficult even if you’re looking forward to the extra help, security, and social perks that it brings. It can also be difficult for your family. You can make the transition easier by taking the time to find the right fit and being honest with your family and with prospective facilities about your needs and concerns.

There are two types of "assisted living beds" in New York State: the Assisted Living Program (ALP) and the Assisted Living Residence (ALR).  The ALP provides supportive housing and in-home care services to people who are eligible for placement in a nursing home, but instead choose to live in a more homelike setting such as a group home.  Assisted Living Program residents receive home care services through Medicaid or private insurance, and residential services from federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or private resources.  Beds in assisted living residences are paid for by private funds at this time and must function under the new regulations that were adopted in 2008.

The ALP program does not have to follow the new regulations, which has the basic standards that the state has identified as important. Many of the facilities that house ALP beds are in institutional settings . Institutional settings do not fulfill the most basic ideas of assisted living. Some of these ALP facilities are, in fact, horrible places to live. Do not get caught in the trap of these falsely advertised assisted living Care Homes or these homes that are not approved by NYAssistedLiving.org.

How Can We help you? Assisted Living for Elderly Adults.

The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), the national trade association for assisted living providers, defines assisted living as "a long-term residence option that provides resident-centered care in a residential setting. It is designed for those who need extra help in their day-to-day lives but who do not require 24-hour skilled nursing care." Assisted Living bridges the gap between living independently at home and a nursing home.Older people generally prefer assisted living homes due to its non-institutionalized, personal, family-like atomoshpere. The communities we manage and have partnered with at New York Assisted Living are safe, nurturing and are secure facilities. These assisted living communities promote independence, assert individuality, and provide activities and socialization as well as as much privacy as one can assume. When seeking an assisted living community you want one that delivers customized care with an Personal Care Plan (PCP), with well trained caregivers and staff, all the time emphasizing happiness and quality of life. Ask about religious settings such as Catholic and Jewish Care Homes.

Below is a list of the basic services offered by some assisted living facilities, but not all,
